Is It ADHD—or Could Something Else Be Contributing?
Difficulties with attention, concentration, organization, memory, procrastination, and task completion can have several possible explanations.
ADHD is one possibility. However, similar concerns may also occur alongside anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, sleep disturbances, learning disorders, and other psychological or medical factors.
For some adults, ADHD was never identified during childhood. Others have already received a diagnosis but continue to experience difficulties that are not fully explained by their existing clinical history.
At Amica Clinical Consulting, adult ADHD assessment is approached as a clinical diagnostic question—not a predetermined conclusion.
Depending on your individual circumstances, the evaluation may include a detailed developmental and clinical history, assessment of current symptoms and functional impairment, relevant rating scales, review of prior records, and additional standardized psychological or cognitive testing when clinically warranted.
When a More Comprehensive Evaluation May Be Appropriate
Further assessment may be especially useful when:
ADHD symptoms overlap with other psychological conditions.
Previous diagnoses have been inconsistent or unclear.
A prior brief evaluation did not adequately address important clinical questions.
Treatment or medication has produced limited or unexpected results.

Not every adult seeking an ADHD diagnosis needs extensive cognitive or neuropsychological testing. The appropriate evaluation depends on the clinical questions, available history, and complexity of the presentation.
Our approach emphasizes selecting the assessment procedures that are clinically meaningful for your specific situation.
When appropriate, you receive an integrated report describing the findings, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations for treatment or further care.
Fees and Payment
The initial consultation visit is $450. This visit involves gathering history and planning/determining what testing is needed. A quote for the testing services and report will be provided after the initial consultation, if we think we can proceed.
Adult diagnostic clarification evaluations typically range from $1,050 to $4,800, depending on the scope of testing, the referral question, and the type of documentation needed.
Because diagnostic clarification evaluations are individualized, the total fee may vary based on whether the assessment includes ADHD testing, learning disability testing, mood or anxiety assessment, trauma-related measures, records review, accommodations documentation, or other clinical questions.
Before testing begins, Amica Clinical Consulting will review the recommended evaluation plan, estimated fee, payment expectations, and what is included in the assessment process.

We Support Your Ongoing Treatment Relationship
A referral for psychological assessment does not require transferring the patient's ongoing care.
Following completion of the evaluation, a written diagnostic report may be shared with the referring provider with the patient's appropriate authorization.
The goal is to provide clinically meaningful information that can help inform the next phase of treatment.
Referrals are accepted for adults only. Psychological testing is recommended based on clinical need, and diagnostic outcomes are not predetermined.

Why does the cost vary?
The cost varies because each evaluation is individualized. Some evaluations may focus primarily on ADHD or mood and anxiety symptoms, while others may require broader testing, learning disability assessment, records review, accommodations documentation, or more complex differential diagnosis.
Do you accept insurance?
We are out-of-network and can provide superbills for possible reimbursement for services medically necessary for diagnosis and treatment. Services related to learning or academics or another primary reason are not typically considered medically necessary. We cannot guarantee reimbursement and do not interact with insurance companies directly.
Do you provide adult ADHD evaluations?
Yes. Amica Clinical Consulting provides adult ADHD evaluations as part of diagnostic clarification services. These evaluations may examine attention, executive functioning, mood, anxiety, sleep, trauma, learning history, and other factors that can affect concentration and daily functioning.
Can testing help distinguish ADHD from anxiety, depression, trauma, or bipolar disorder?
Yes. Diagnostic clarification can help determine whether attention or executive functioning difficulties are best explained by ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, bipolar-spectrum symptoms, sleep problems, learning differences, or a combination of factors.
Do you test for learning disabilities in adults?
Yes. We assess Specific Learning Disorder in reading, written expression, and mathematics for adults when clinically appropriate.
Do you provide adult autism evaluations?
No. Amica Clinical Consulting does not currently provide adult autism evaluations, but we can screen you. If there is a high suspicion for Autism, we recommend seeing a specialist in Autism evaluation for adults.
Can this evaluation help if I already have a diagnosis?
Yes. Some adults seek evaluation because a previous diagnosis does not fully explain their symptoms, different providers have offered different explanations, or treatment has not been as helpful as expected. Diagnostic clarification can help reassess the clinical picture and identify whether another condition, multiple conditions, or additional factors may be contributing.
Can I use the evaluation report for accommodations?
When clinically supported, the written report may include recommendations for academic or workplace accommodations. However, accommodations for certain things, such as high-stakes exams (e.g. LSAT, MCAT) typically require a different evaluation type/focus/analysis/record review, etc. Please let us know during the consultation so that we can select the appropriate test plan for you. Eligibility decisions are made by the school, employer, testing board, or requesting organization.
Do you offer evaluations through telehealth?
Telehealth-based assessment may be available for adults located in PSYPACT participating states, depending on factors such as the type of testing needed.
Do I need to be in a PSYPACT state during the appointment?
For PSYPACT-based telehealth services, eligibility may depend on where you are physically located at the time of the appointment. This will be reviewed before services begin.
How long does the evaluation process take?
Timeline varies based on scheduling, testing scope, records review, and report needs. Most diagnostic clarification evaluations are completed in approximately 3 visits.
What happens after I receive the report?
After the evaluation, you will receive feedback and recommendations for next steps. These may include therapy, psychiatric consultation, coaching, academic or workplace accommodations, medical follow-up, or referrals, depending on the findings.
Is this evaluation only for people who know what diagnosis they have?
No. This service is specifically designed for adults who may not know what diagnosis best explains their symptoms. It can be helpful when the main concern is uncertainty, overlap, or lack of clarity.
